What could cause a knocking sound under my driver front wheel well?

It only happens when I turn right. Never left or even when I am driving straight. I have ruled out CV issues because I have no clicking sound when under tight turns. Only when I hit a bump doing a right hand turn. There is no steering response issues either. Everything feels fine. There is just the sound and I have looked and nothing seems to be loose. Could it be a tie rod or something to that affect. I don't think that it could be a blown strut because it doesn't bounce at all.

Maybe this will help. Me an a friend of mine put some coil overs on an EVO 8. The kid brought it back and said it is making a noise when goig over bumps and right turns. Long story short, it was the nut on top of the strut. Not the 3 bolts that hold the strut to the body of the car. Or it could be a broken motor mount? Hope this gives you an idea of where to look.

DMC had a good idea, the bolt on top of the strut, that was the knocking on my tiburon (only on driver side)...tends to make it when you hit bumps and turn sometimes. it will get worse once you tighten it but it will suffice for a week or so...if i remember correctly someone told me the strut mount...but dont put your money on it till you know

Inspect your sway bar links for play. Next inspect the condition of the strut and upper mount (look for play and leaking strut oil).

If the bearings go bad on the upper strut mount they will definitely make a bad sound when turning.
Ive had first hand experience with this.If you know the side its on,jack the car up,move the wheel back and forth and see if it does it.
Also, like Nick said, the sway bar end links can do it as well if they are bad.

Have you crawled underneath both sides of the front of the car to see if there is any abnormal amount of grease flung up on yoar firewall to rule out the cv joint?

given that it only happens when u turn right i would say sway bar links.

the best thing i suggest to do is take it to a professional alignment specialist, they should really know their stuff. not just any alignment guy.

also, my car did this randomly(not on turns) and it was because the brake pad was sliding/knocking around in the caliper because the spring retainer wasn't installed correctly.

i would look into strut, only if it is a constant sound on every bump.
